General Summary & Purpose

The Internal Audit & SOX Manager is a key member of the Finance Team, responsible for leading the execution of the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) 404(b) compliance program across multiple business units and locations. This role partners closely with internal stakeholders, co-sourced SOX advisors, and external auditors to ensure robust internal controls and audit readiness.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct enterprise-wide top-down risk assessments to support SOX planning and scoping
  • Lead walkthroughs to evaluate control design and identify gaps, ensuring controls are efficient and audit-ready
  • Develop and execute test procedures to assess operating effectiveness of key controls
  • Advise stakeholders on SOX compliance implications of new processes, policies, and systems
  • Manage audit schedules and deliverables using governance frameworks and project management tools
  • Provide ongoing support to control owners for effective control design and implementation
  • Build and maintain process flowcharts using Visio
  • Deliver training sessions on SOX requirements and best practices
  • Review segregation of duties and SOC-1 reports for key systems and processes
  • Administer AuditBoard platform: manage controls, user access, and documentation workflows
  • Coordinate audit requests from external auditors and SOX advisors to ensure timely responses
  • Evaluate control deficiencies and monitor remediation efforts
  • Prepare reports and analyses on SOX testing status and results
  • Stay ahead of emerging internal control and SOX compliance issues
  • Mentor junior team members and oversee audit fieldwork
  • Support ad hoc internal audit projects as needed

 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience managing SOX compliance or leading SOX 404(b) audits for public companies
  • Deep knowledge of SOX, PCAOB, and COSO frameworks
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with AuditBoard and Visio preferred
  • Prior management or team leadership experience preferred
  • CPA, CIA, or similar professional certification strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all organizational levels
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with shifting priorities

She sold her shares in Rylem in 2017 to focus on family and do some intriguing consulting work for CFO Selections and Executive Recruiting for Alaska Air. Kim joined Pikemann in 2020 as a Partner and is enjoying again the energy and excitement of building a staffing company that truly focuses on integrity and helping people’s careers in any way possible.
