Senior Accounting Manager - REMOTE!

Summary

We are working with a professional services firm that is hiring a Senior Accounting Manager. This position will report directly to the CFO and manager 1-2 employees.
As a Senior Accounting Manager, you will take on a critical leadership role within our finance department. You will ensure that our accounting practices meet the highest standards in a compliance-driven environment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of government and public sector accounting standards, as well as significant auditing experience. This role requires strong collaboration, effective communication, curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting Management:
  • Oversee all accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and bi-weekly Payroll for over 100 employees across various states.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, financial reports, and supporting schedules.
  • Conduct reconciliations for accounts, banks, and other records.
  • Manage state and local payroll, business tax filings, and regulatory filings, including business licenses, annual reports, census, and survey requests.
Leadership and Supervision:
  • Lead and supervise the financial accounting team to ensure accuracy and timeliness in all accounting functions.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, training, and constructive feedback;manage performance reviews and career development.
Compliance and Audits:
  • Oversee financial compliance to adhere to GAAP, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), AASHTO, and other relevant standards.
  • Lead strategic audits, including company valuation, Incurred Cost Rate (ICR) reviews, and compliance testing and audits for ESOP and 401K, as well as client audits as needed.
Policy and Process Development:
  • Develop and refine policies and internal controls to enhance financial governance and reduce risks.
  • Oversee the automation and optimization of accounting processes, workflows, and support critical projects, including ERP migration, with a focus on Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint.
Financial Reporting:
  • Manage the fiscal close process to deliver accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
  • Analyze financial data and reports to provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior management.

Experience/Education
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in financial accounting or auditing.
  • Experience with Deltek Vision or Deltek Vantagepoint is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, data validation, advanced formulas, dashboard creation, etc.).
  • Experience in project-based professional services with government and public sector clients.
Must reside in Washington, California, Oregon, Virginia, Alabama and DC.

Kim joined Pikemann in 2020 as a Partner and is enjoying again the energy and excitement of building a staffing company that truly focuses on integrity and helping people’s careers in any way possible.
